Clean Ocean Surfboards Factory
I headed over to see my friend, Tony Ianaronne, at his surfboard factory. I've known T.I. for about 4 years and this was my first visit to the factory that he produces umpteen thousand foam boards out of....Well today he was working on a Chambered Cedar Surfboard. Check it bra.

Interview with the Dental Ding Doc
In an amazing twist of fate or errant kismet this photo of the Dental Ding Doc (DDD), pictured on skatecraft, was unearthed on the ever popular Surfy Surfy blog, original post Sunday, November 6th 2005. The following is an interview with DDD, conducted by Chuck Zissou Vespucci, via electronic mail.
CZV:what's the story behind said photo?
DDD:Story behind said photo - NYC 2004 - Our friend Tim of San Clemente, CA visited from NYC. A dedicated surf addict and stoked NYC explorer - he spotted the CAUTION: HOLLOW SIDEWALK down on Bleeker and following photo ensued. I was on my way home from the dental clinic riding the best NYC transportation in town. On that note, there is nothing better than sneaking out of NYC to go for a surf and hours later be back in the big city in all its glory.
CZV:how did you find it on surfy?
DDD:My friend Mike, also in the pic, emailed me months later and lead me to the photo on surfy surfy. I think I got the email on a particularly painful day of dental school and was stoked to see it. That's how Mike and I got through dental school and kept the focus on what was important while experiencing the brutality of the daily dental school grind.
CZV:how long have you been blogging?
DDD:Been blogging for less than one month. Two or three weeks maybe. A wise man once said, blogging is like leaving a message on the world's answering machine. Classic, and true.
CZV:where and what is flevoland?
DDD:Flevoland is another word for Florida. Not sure where that came from, I read it somewhere.
CZV:Well it's been great talking with you, cheesefacedmongrol. Great insights, the kids will love it. Any parting words?
DDD:Gingivitis leads to periodontitis which leads to surfitis. Cheese glow.
end interview.
note to our reader: Flevoland is a province of the Netherlands. DDD is apparently a cheese-huffer. Although as noted by Wikipedia; On the MySpace web site, users who selected "Florida" as their home state wound up with "Flevoland" displayed in error on the site. It was assumed by some users that "Flevoland" was slang for "Florida", but it was actually a glitch in the MySpace program. Well done DDD.

Spring Tide Brings Teeth
Walking this morning was epic due to a rising Nor'Easter on the shoulders of a peaking Spring Tide. All kinds of flotsam and jetsam littering the dune line. But the most curious of all were these two teeth. I found them 10 yards apart and have never seen their type before. After a hearty Googling, I am at a loss. Any idea's?

For the Brah or Stah...
Here are some Gift Giving Suggestions from the good people at the American Paddleboard Company.
For The Brah in your life, make them feel like the Supreme Cheese with some uber styley Surfer Shades. And at the price....you can't beat'em with a slice of cheese.
For the Stah of your dreams, may we offer the silky allure of the Eeni Meeni Bikini. And, oh yeah, it features organic cotton's predecessor, Cupramonium Rayon. Feel it, it feels like warm velveeta.
Photos poached from Surfer Mag May 1974 (yes I am milking this back issue score).

Hey Turkey, Your a Turkey.
My favorite line from the original Mad Max film. Goose calls after the guy that just got mugged, "Hey Turkey! Your a Turkey!". I am sure I have misquoted or paraphrased, Happy Thanksgiving.
All feasted on a low tide sandbar festival, I paddled way offshore and Linda took a photo of me embracing the cheese. I look like I should be selling rust.

Hello, Casino. Are You Firing?
The Dental Ding Doc relayed a phone message that said "Blogging is like leaving a message on the world's answering machine". This reminded me of a call made during the filming of Drawing Lines. Ryan Hammers used the "Hammy Phone" to call Casino Pier, in New Jersey, to see if it was firing.

Have You Seen This Man?
Dolphins from Yesterday
Here is a quick clip of the pod of dolphins that surrounded me yesterday. There was about twenty of them and they stuck around until I paddled in.
Arrest that Wave!
Apparently there was a minor disturbance on the ocean this morning, John Law was called in to check it out. "Nothing to see here" reported Officer Richard Smiles, "apparently a pelican had created a ripple while diving for fish...but there are no waves". Thanks Dick.

For the Landlocked
I finally made it to the water this evening just before sunset. The current and wind were light onshore and I got slapped around a little as I climbed the paddle ladder. But I did have my new water camera with me and snapped some random shots of me and the sunset. Life is good. And yes I went paddling with a wool hat.

Sunrise, Sea Smoke and Shrimp Boats
Cracked open the new digital camera this morning. So far so good. The fact it actual works is impressive, considering the price I paid. I don't know what caused the warp in the bottom photograph, but I thought it looked cool.

The Lost Wave
Just finished watching Sam George's latest; The Lost Wave. Skipping the synopsis and going right to the meat, I liked this film. The film follows a simple, yet interesting, story line. It achieves it's goals and does so in an entertaining way. I actually laughed out loud with joy when Sam and the young Shun took off on their first wave together. This film does well in helping to advance the genre of the Surf Film. And if your interested in making your own surf flick, the below article from May 1974 Surfer Magazine will get you on your merry way. And as the article suggests "Concentrate on one hot guy".... I think I'll concentrate on Sandi the Summer Girl from the ad in the bottom pic.

He's Kind of a Big Deal...
Congrats to the Dental Ding Doc. After only three days in Bloggerdom he has been recognized by the very hip, New York Surf Blog. The NYsurf messageboard has long been a great source of info and entertainment and for almost the past year the blog has been as equally valued. Kudos to you my friends, kudos to you.

Santosha, Bonzers and Pensacola
After watching the animated short, "Secret Spot", I dug up my copy of Surfer Mag from May of 1974. It had a cool article on Larry Yates' film, an ad for a Bing Bonzer and a tight little spread on my favorite Gulf Coast hideout, Pensacola. The top surfer in the last pic is 16 year old, Mark Foo. Yeah, that Mark Foo. From what I could dig up, he lived in Pensacola during the early 70's before moving back to Hawaii in 1975. Bottom surfer is Pcola legend Yancy Spencer.

Good Morning Paddle
Caught the top pic on my way out of the house this morning. Eerie, pre-dawn view from my favorite webcam. Took a hike through Hannah Park and caught a morning paddle at 10th street.
